Black, Blue, Splash Example

I decided to take some pictures of my three McMurray Hatchery silkies to give a example of the BBS genetics in chickens. In my three silkies, I have a dark blue, a black, and a splash.

The little splash is the beloved Donut, who's up front and all crouched down. The dark blue (and probably a rooster judging by his attitude) is the scruffy fella standing to the far right. The black is Magic-Head, lingering in the back. All three silkies will be pets, and not used as breeders due to their surprising lack of good crests and beards, but they're still cute, and Donut and Magic-Head are quite tame.

It was a little hard to get a good picture of Donut, but I finally did after a bit, you can see the "splashed" grays and light blues in his feathers in the picture just below:

He's still my favorite. Ssssh. :)
