Wish It Were Back in Texas...

The drive home from Mississippi was interesting; we lost about three hours stuck in traffic, and were treated to fierce winds, and frighteningly strong rain the whole way home!
The creek overflowth, the pool's brimming to the top, and the ducks are in hog heaven! We haven't gotten so much rain around here in ages, and I'm starting to feel very sorry for Texas 'cause they're missing it!

We got home late, soaked, wet, dampened, soggy, and otherwise no-dry, but safe. There were lots of car wrecks out on the roads, and I know I was a nervous wreck myself! I'm not sure how my dad managed to say so composed while driving, because I was a mess and not even doing anything besides taking care of the siblings while my Mom was with Grandma in her car.

It was really good to be back, even though we start school tomorrow! ;) Our house-sitter did a great job, and all the animals looked great. I am missing a Lavender Ameraucana bantam, but that's not even close to being his fault. At some point in time a hawk came by and swooped it up...a bit sad, since now I only have two left, but besides that, and our chickens being sick anyways, everybody looks wonderful. Norbert, especially. Normally when we come home the poor litter feller is hungry, because most of our house-sitters are afraid of him, or the crickets. I was thrilled to see he was so well taken care of!

It rained all through the night, and is still sprinkling---in a serene sort of manner---today. After meticulously checking on the chickens, I went out to take pictures; most of them turned out all right, through I'm missing one that I swore I downloaded...it's hiding somewhere in my file. I may find it later.

The construction site over the railroad tracks kindly put up a couple of these signs. Funny, the first time I noticed them was while my dad was driving through a tempest! :)

They certainly don't need the signs right now.
