Just Goes to Show...

I have a short, sad, but somewhat amusing (only if you have a sense of humor like me) story to tell you guys today: though the event I hope to relive happened several days ago, and I keep forgetting to mention it.

Some of you might know that we have (spoiler alert: had) three little fish, and two little water frogs. They sat in a tank, all good friends, on top of out table, and lived nice, quiet lives expect for when Zeb came to tap the glass.

That minor detail is unimportant----I shall move on.

One day, we discovered that a fish had died. It was laying there, all...dead-like, and we decided to take it out soon as somebody qualified (AKA, a parent) had time. I then preceded to completely forget about it.

The next day, I went downstairs and sat to eat/read, and looked into the tank to see three little fish swimming around.

It's a miracle!

Turns out, the fish had been faking it, and was very much alive.

A couple days later, I was looking into the tank, also while eating/reading, and noticed one of the fish was laying of the bottom of the tank, all dead-like. I thought, "bah! It's probably faking it. After all, fish float when they die right?"
I pointed it out to Mom, and then left it be.

A day or so later (I have a short memory-span) I noticed we had two fish, and two frogs. I asked Mom what happened to the third, and the reply was: "oh, it's really dead this time. The frogs' ate it. Look, there's its skeleton."

Needless to say, I looked, and sure enough there was a tiny little fish skeleton laying on the rocks. It's still here to this day---and it's said that the fish's spirit haunts the tank now.... You can still hear the screams....

Not really, but it just goes to show----what doesn't kill, will probably succeed in the second attempt!

Do It - With a Do-Rag
6/05/2011 | Author:
Yesterday my Dad did all of our hair (excluding Mom, Fletcher, Zeb, and Quinn) up in a do-rag. It was an interesting experience, and Rose actually slept in hers and is wearing it today---so did Indy.

If I plan on getting mine back in, I'm going to need Dad's help!

We had some serious ninja/gangster moves going on.

Rose looked so intense as I took the picture below---I was nearly frightened. :) Even Arwen was nearly blinded by the awesomeness.

However, when faced with the lens of a camera, my first instinct is to make a face.

Then make another one.

But---the camera loves sweet Rose, who coincidentally, loves the camera!

I mock the camera with my awesomeness.
Or lack, thereof, lol.

Quinn, who didn't get a do-rag and was jealous (sorta.)
She was then told to go outside to play, and was mad.

The end.

I got my learner's permit today, no problem! My Dad took me out to go get it (long wait, the DDS place was packed!) and then we got lunch and came home. On the way back, I got to drive up our driveway, starting past our mailboxes. It was very stressful! That gravel road is long! :)

Goat Patrol

I was standing at the backdoor this morning, prepping myself to go take care of the critters, when I noticed Hermione out of the lot, running around. She looked nervous, and I was just standing there trying to figure out how she got out (everything looked normal) when I saw Leia running towards Hermione. Duke was right on her tail, licking her legs, the doof.

I called Duke in, then went out to try and get the goats back inside the lot.

Turns out it wasn't that hard; Duke scared them both so bad they just ran back into the lot. And I don't mean power-walking, or casual jogging, they booked-it. They had had enough. Serves them right for getting out----though it was technically my fault, as I soon discovered. In the chaos of the hulseys being our last night, and finding my poor silkie Donut dead, I'd left the gate unlocked.
Well, I'd locked it, the bolt was slid across, but it hadn't actually reached the lock area. So, yup. My fault, I'm glad Duke just played with them.

Also, they didn't eat Mom's fruit trees! Which is good---but I did notice a few blackberry leaves missing off the bushes, so I guess they got some fast-food while dodging Duke's tongue.
He tastes everything.

The Hulseys

These fellers are wild and rowdy as ever; just a couple days ago they dug out of the run that my Dad built off the Bantam Coop, and three escaped. I caught one, and then caught the last two later that night.

When we got home from swimming at the Lake yesterday, I went out to check on them, and they were all in their pen, just fine.

I went out a couple hours later and the goats had opened the pen, and they were hiding in the grass ready for bed. Who knows how long they'd been out? Luckily, they were all fine, and today they're back in their pen and I'm putting a cinderblock in front of the door!

They're trouble all over the place! You see they've all mastered the "evil eye" expression.
