Well...

It did snow; we must've gotten around a 1/2 a inch to a inch early this morning, and it was gone (except for in a few places) by late this afternoon when the snow came out.

I found some little kitty-prints on the deck earlier:

And then I found the culprit, Cricket, who after coming up to be and begging to be petted, decided to move back against the house and off that cold white stuff.

And then with great dignity refused to look at the camera.
I think he blamed me for the snow.
~

The dogs didn't particularly enjoy it either---they kept scratching to get inside. I kept trying to explain to Zelda that it wasn't that bad---but to no avail.idunno

I went out to burn some more stuff today, and was joined, as always, by Pirate, who's back out and running around with the other chickens, (just not in the lot!)
His comb and face still looks a bit rough, but he's still getting back into the pecking-order, so, all things considered he's doing pretty good.

His feathers are back in shape, anyways.

When I went to put away the blowtorch, I attempted trying to get a picture of Cortana, however, I didn't manage to get a very good one.
She's been sleeping away these cold days, and apparently has quite the stash of corn in her nest-box.

On another subject, it is supposed to snow again tonight---goodness. I'm ready for spring now, but they're predicting around 2 inches! We'll just have to see....

Not Much Longer....

My mom called McMurray Hatchery yesterday to complete a few changes to our order.
I thought I might add a few bantams to my order (because of the cap on my BXSBs and BFCBs) but decided not too. My mom canceled the Cuckoo Maran and Black Australorp birds, and we were going to replace them with EEs, but they are out-of-stock for our delivery date, so she's just going to stick with her brown egg-layer assortment, and BCPs. :)

My bets are on them arriving early Valentine's Day morning.
Fingers crossed that they all come healthy and alive!

A Update
2/09/2011 | Author:
Already, my mom must have done a zillion loads of laundry. Rosie started feeling sick early last night, and it was revealed to us all that she has a stomach bug.
She's been throwing up all through the night---and is still not well. She's resting in the living room on a pallet on the floor, and is watching Spongebob. So far she hasn't managed to keep much down, but seems to be feeling better.

Luckily none of us are sick. Willow had a bit of a tummy ache earlier, but is feeling better now.
I must've cleaned my hands about twelve hundred times already today...and have been carrying around disinfectant wipes. I can't help it.

I really hope she gets all the way better soon, though, it doesn't seem to be bothering her a whole lot. She's already told us all that she's glad she's sick, because she gets Sprite soda. Lol.

"Do you give the horse his strength or clothe his neck with a flowing mane? Do you make him leap like a locust, striking terror with his proud snorting? He paws fiercely, rejoicing in his strength, and charges into the fray. He laughs at fear, afraid of nothing; he does not shy away from the sword. The quiver rattles against his side, along with the flashing spear and lance. In frenzied excitement he eats up the ground; he cannot stand still when the trumpet sounds. At the blast of the trumpet he snorts, 'Aha!' He catches the scent of battle from afar, the shout of commanders and the battle cry."

Isn't she just the sweetest thing?
We went on another little walk today, and went across the backyard, chicken lot, and into the woods along the creek.

The goats were looking quite fuzzy, as normal. The wind is cold today---winter weather moving in again. Why does it do this to me? The grass is just beginning to grow!

Leia kept wanting to lick the camera, something which she was very disappointed not to do.

 Riverrats? Beavers? Coons?
I'm leaning towards coons or riverrats.
Or beavers.

Berries got covered in dog slobber...it was Zelda's fault...not mine, by the way. :)

Hopefully we won't all freeze tonight...

So, my mom eventually kicked Quinn, Indy, Willow, and Rose off the video game systems today, and tugged us all outside (I had already been outside today, though ;) the pictures prove...)

Quinn, took forever finding something to wear, and by the time she got outside, I looked like this:

Nobody can prove this...but somehow or another, my soul was processed by the woodland queen of spirits. I barely have any memory of the incident.

Apparently it was quite traumatic, because this woodland queen then stole the minds of my sisters, Indy and Willow, and made them into minions.

Their transformation took more time, however.

After a short time, however, it was complete.

They were never the same.

~

The following events were dramatic, strange, and very goofy.
I cannot vouch for myself.

 I had tail-feathers.

Gawd, and I made faces...heaven help the poor souls that were my/the-woodland-spirit's minions....
(That's my Gus face---see how productive I can be?)
~

After a while, though, as a last attempt, we brainwashed Quinn. But she just didn't have it out to be a woodland spirit, so she became a Field Nymph.

The transformation was very quick, and sadly, due to the condition of the pasture grasses, her luxurious mane was rather...non-luxurious.

It's okay though, she had a flower.
 ~

Then, Quinn and the minions proceded to quote and act out Vector from the movie Despicable Me; I, as the Queen Spirit, simply watched the show and threw in the occasional word.

"Because I'm creating crime with both direction, and magnitude!"

"Oh yah!"

~

The dogs wonder how they survive this.
But they do.
Tough mutts.

All the best~
