She's getting up in her years, and has trouble hearing, seeing, and is apparently allergic to the "outside".
She's still such a good girl though, and we all love her.

These little guys are from that test-hatch in my incubator way back when. They're getting so big, and I am so proud. *Gushes*
They, particularly the little red-head above, are getting into the whole "crowing business" and are learning to dance. Too bad for them their perspective lady friends aren't laying yet, and hate them.
Like with many new cockerels, they crow like dying cats. But they're getting better! I have hope for them. :)

Dog ticks. The glory of living surrounded by woodland, and owning dogs.
I pulled this fattie (and I intend to be rude, here,) off Duke just a while ago, and then I had the stroke of brilliance that encouraged me to take a couple pictures of it.
Maybe it wasn't a stroke of brilliance...that is possible. It might have just been a stroke.
With the macro lens in hand, I captured everything from it's icky little legs, and the bit of dog flesh in its jaws. From it's gross, swollen little body, to it's beady little head.
I live for these moments. These proud, meaningful moments that allow me to take such breathtaking photos of these wonderful little...whatever they are.
Okay, so I lied. I don't really live for these moments. But they do come around all the same.

I have a theory that involves books, and the rabid readers of books; a theory that may not actually be a theory but instead a completely reasonable idea based on what other people have said.
Readers are crazy, greedy people.
I tend to be the person who not only gets that conflicted mesh of happiness and utter brokenness when a favorite book series ends---but also the person that just wants to read more! Maybe that's why after the Hunger Games trilogy came to a close, I ordered this interesting book called “The Girl Who Was On Fire.” For anybody who has read the Hunger Games, you'll recognize the title.
The Girl Who Was On Fire is written by several respectable authors, and discuses solely the Hunger Games trilogy. It reveals many foreshadowing hints to the end of the last book (how do people even notice this stuff?), explains some of the characters' (especially the golden girl, Katniss) actions, and perhaps what it is that drives them in the story, and makes them so cool. I've nearly finished the book, and find it to be fascinating, which is a pleasant surprise, seeing as I was rather doubting its quality. At first I thought it would turn out to be one of those “Who Lives, Who Dies” books that is thrown out by some no-namer right before a popular series ends, however, “The Girl Who Was On Fire” seems to be different from them---which may come as unsurprising when you recognize that it was written after the Hunger Games ended.
My rating on this book, is a good one, and I have raptly read it like the nerd I am, since yesterday evening when it came in the mail. However, that has not stopped me from rapidly devouring the 487 page fiction called Divergent, which I also got yesterday evening.
Now that book is nearly as hard to explain as Pendragon, and the Hunger Games, and in my opinion ranks very closely to them in amazing-ness. It was nearly a throw-the-book-at-the-wall moment when I finished the last page, because while it didn't end on an insurmountable cliffhanger, I'm dying for the sequel, which I've heard will be released sometime next spring/summer.

Meanwhile, I have also began reading a book about the Cherokee called Blood Oath, and a psychology book that seems to have been one of my grandmother's schoolbooks (or something of the sort) from when she was younger.
I've wanted to read Blood Oath for quite some time and am just reading the psychology book (or whatever it is) for interest. Maybe I'll learn something about the brain.

Pertaining to the rest of our families activities, I'll say we've been busy.
Friday was the homeschool curriculum fair, and also a teen/adult movie night! Along with many other CAP members, during the homeschool fair I helped venders, shoppers, and did some recruiting. Then Mom, Indy, Quinn and I invited several CAP members to lunch with us...well, I'll be honest----I invited the CAP members, but Mom said it was a nice idea. :)
We all had a nice time, and eventually left the fair with several new games, two friends, and a cousin.
Timmy and John came home with us, along with Cousin Sierra, to have dinner and stick around for the movie night, which featured the infamous movie Jaws.
Timmy and John left after the movie (we had a great time!) but Sierra stuck around until the next day, when we went to the Lake and left her there. She lives just up the hill, so it's not as ominous as it sounds. :) We had a great time visiting with her also and hope she can come over again.

Before long, Quinn and I will be going up to Arkansas with our Grandma and the “girls” (Jill and Dolly! :) ) to help watch over the dogs, and visit with family. Yes, Jordan, your time of peace away from me is coming to a close. You best make sure you have your special PSYCH T-shirt washed because I'm bringing mine!

Our chickens continue to forget that they can lay eggs, and have done nothing but lounge around and eat our harvest sparse bits of fruit and vegetables. Today, a white giant chicken has fallen ill and is being quarantined and treated. Hopefully, her health will improve.
And on a final note: I feel like I need another puppy, or at least some chicken hatching eggs. I had a dream last night that I adopted four pit-bull pups, and got a rottweiler pup for Christmas. The pit-bulls were named Royal Subject (Royal), Lawyer Cowboy (Lawyer), Penny Money (Coin), and Big Dog Daddy (Moose). The rottie was called Dragon, and didn't have a full title which, factoring in the previous stated names, may just be a blessing.
Oh, and this is my bookshelf.
