 We got some sleepy dogs.

My dog looks very clever, doesn't she?

Duke (surprisingly) and Dolly were a bit more active.

 Dolly's blowing me a kiss.

 Duke decided to mimic that.

New Kids

Guess what my parents came home with today!
They went to the Tractor Co to get pine bedding, and a chick starter.
They got what they went for, and a bit more.
Four ducklings more!

 They are adorable.

 And poofy.

My chicks aren't sure what to think of these new kids, though.
They're staying in the same brooder, and are slightly alarmed.

We shall see how it goes.

Tree Down

In that big storm that came by the other day a tree went down in the chicken lot; a nice, big, healthy, green pine tree. It tore the wire nailed to the tree line, and landed flat over the two drop pens by dad built, and the duck house, which my dad also built.

Needless to say, my dad's going to be real pleased; I've already envisioned all the splitting, sawing, and wood-hauling we're going to be doing in order to get that pine out of there. And stick-picking-up, which is even worse, actually. Lol.

Though I should mention that as far as I can tell, the pens are not badly damaged. Maybe a bit banged up, but nothing seems to be broken, we'll see, yah?

The goats love it: they've been stuffing their faces with the green stuff, so much they're actually already getting tired of it.

Dolly thought it was pretty cool too; she also seemed to be quite ashamed of my panicky behavior during the thunderstorms and tornado watches. I was stressed, okay!

Dew's Fallen

Dolly tried really, really hard to eat a dead mouse this morning.
Really hard. *Raises hand* I stopped her though.

She's been enjoying her stay, though will probably be going back home to her Momma and sister within the next few days, lest I'm mistaken.

Me and her went to take care of Midnight the rabbit, then take pictures and visit the chickens/goats/ducks. Dolly really likes the chicken lot: she goes out there with me to let them out, and put them up in the evening, and she runs, tries to roll, digs, and gets into their water.
Then runs from the goats. She's not real crazy about them.

Indy and Willow are already outside playing this morning; wearing cutoffs, and jackets: naturally. :)

They even took care of the chickens this morning, they've been spending a lot of time going out to the little blue "duck house" making, and remaking nests for the little mallard hen, trying to get her to lay in there. We think we might have gotten one egg from her, but it was cracked, and started leaking in my bator.

Indy and Willow also found a small clutch of chicken eggs in one of the deserted pigeon cages: five brown eyes, and a green EE egg. I've marked them, and we're leaving them there to see if they get covered by a hen and hatched!
